Department Summary

The Computer Science and Engineering Department is home to 9 Professors, 13 Associate Professors, 11 Assistant Professors and 30 Professional faculty, over 160 Ph.D. students over 800 master students and over 2000 bachelor students. We offer a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering, M.S. degrees in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Data Engineering, ABET-accredited undergraduate degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology, and a new B.S. degree in Cybersecurity. The Department is dedicated to creating a climate in which every faculty and student can be successful. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

Clinical Assistant/Associate Professors in the Department of Computer Science play a vital role in advancing the department's educational mission through high-quality teaching, student mentorship, and active academic leadership. This position carries an 80% teaching and 20% service workload distributed across the academic year.
Faculty in this role are responsible for developing and delivering engaging courses in computer engineering and related areas-such as embedded and cyber-physical systems, computer architecture, digital design, VLSI, operating systems, and distributed systems-at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Duties include preparing course materials, implementing effective teaching strategies, assessing student learning outcomes, and fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports student success. Delivery of lectures and interacting with students is mostly in-person.
Beyond classroom instruction, Clinical Faculty are expected to advise and mentor students, contribute to curriculum development and program assessment, and stay informed about pedagogical best practices and emerging technologies in the field. Service responsibilities encompass participation in departmental committees, outreach and recruitment initiatives, support for student organizations and events, and other activities that enhance the department's academic community.

Minimum Qualifications

For Clinical positions a Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering (or equivalent) is required.

Teaching experience at the University Level.
