Job description

Function/Duties of Position

Research assistant to work ongoing experiments using animal models of aging and neurodegenerative disease to evaluate potential neurotherapeutics.   Position will involve mouse handling and colony maintenance, mouse tissue collection, cell culture and some wet lab bench work as well as processing of human processing of human blood samples, maintenance of biorepository and shipping of samples to other investigators.  Previous experience with these responsibilities is preferred. 

Personnel will need to work at lab benches and desks for up to 3 hours at a time. Ability to perform repetitive lab manipulations and move lab equipment under 25 lbs with accommodation.  Personal protective equipment must be worn as required and will be provided. (Gloves, mask/respirator, eyewear, lab coat, etc). Must be able to communicate easily with co-workers, assist and instruct other lab members with new methods.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in any field; OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience; OR 4 years of relevant experience; OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Wet lab experience
  • Animal handling experience
  • Cell culture experience
  • Experience working with human samples

  • Typical schedule: M-F, work hours within 8am-5pm window
