Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an BI Applications Manager for a Full Time assignment with one of our premier Utilities clients in San Jose, CA.
Responsibilities :
  • Lead the organization's business intelligence, analytics, and data management strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and long-term business priorities.
  • Manage and mentor a team of BI and data professionals, providing direction, workload prioritization, performance coaching, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate opportunities, and deliver scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Drive the development and execution of a BI and data roadmap, including initiatives related to data warehousing, reporting, analytics, and governance.
  • Oversee enterprise business intelligence platforms, analytics tools, data integration processes, and related technologies to ensure reliability and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain data governance practices focused on data quality, ownership, security, and operational consistency.
  • Lead cross-functional data and analytics programs, coordinating project activities and ensuring successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on data architecture, data integration, and enterprise reporting best practices to support informed decision-making.
  • Partner with technical and business teams to identify emerging needs and continuously improve analytics services and capabilities.
  • Support service management processes, including change management, incident resolution, continuous improvement, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Promote adherence to cybersecurity standards, organizational policies, and data protection requirements.
  • Occasionally support after-hours work related to critical projects, deadlines, or production issues.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Skills :
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience leading and managing technical teams within data, analytics, or business intelligence environments.
  • 3-5 years of experience leading BI, analytics, data warehouse, or enterprise reporting initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise data strategies, governance frameworks, and analytics roadmaps.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and build consensus across multiple business functions.
  • Experience with SQL, database technologies, reporting platforms, and enterprise data ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data integration methodologies, ETL processes, and modern analytics architectures.
  • Experience defining business requirements and translating technical concepts into language understandable to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong program and project leadership skills, including coordinating cross-functional teams and priorities.
  • Understanding of IT service management practices, including change management and operational governance.
  • Experience working with business intelligence and visualization tools to support analytics and decision-making initiatives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management capabilities.
Preferred Skills :
  • Experience with Tableau or similar enterprise BI and visualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based analytics and data platforms, including exposure to AWS environments.
  • Experience implementing or enhancing enterprise data governance programs.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
  • Experience within regulated industries or environments subject to compliance and governance requirements.
  • Background in advanced analytics, data science, or enterprise reporting solutions.
