Carle Health and the Carle Illinois College of Medicine are seeking a BE/BC Fellowship-Trained Neuroradiologist to join our expanding academic team in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. This unique role offers a balanced blend of clinical practice, research and academics, ideal for candidates passionate about advancing neuroimaging and patient care.


Opportunity Details

This unique opportunity offers equal parts cutting-edge clinical neuroradiology practice and pioneering translational research, with the opportunity to lead groundbreaking 7T MRI investigations designed to solve real-world clinical challenges and redefine the medical imaging and treatment standard of care.

Opportunity Details Include:

General/Clinical:

  • 100% Neuroradiology: NO weekends, NO evenings, NO nights, NO holidays, NO call
  • Comprehensive Stroke Center with Level I Trauma Center and active Neurosurgical, Neurology and Otolaryngology referral bases
  • Opportunities for flexible scheduling with private on-site office/workspace
  • State-of-the-art equipment including a new 7T MRI scanner, Visage PACS, EPIC EMR
  • Candidate must be proficient (or willing to grow) in advanced imaging modalities including MR spectroscopy/perfusion and fMRI. Basic fluoroscopic-guided spinal procedures and neuro spine plain films interpretations are also a prerequisite
  • Clinical responsibilities include interpretation of infant, pediatric, and adult cross-sectional examinations of the head, neck, brain, and spine, neuro-relevant plain films, spine service including diagnostic lumbar punctures, myelograms, and intrathecal chemotherapy, advanced and high field 7T MRI interpretation including MR Spectroscopy/Perfusion, CSF cine flow, vessel wall imaging, and fMRI

Research:

  • Dedicated 50% protected research time, focused on cutting-edge high field MRI neuroradiology research
  • Access to a new 7T MRI scanner for advanced neuroimaging investigations spanning basic, translational, and clinical research
  • Collaborative research environment with established Carle/University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (UIUC) scientists and engineers, Carle clinicians across multiple departments, and Carle Illinois College of Medicine students
  • Expectation and support for securing intramural and extramural funding to develop hypothesis-driven research protocols
  • Publication and academic growth opportunities with resources to establish an independent research program
  • Build a robust clinical translation program for 7T MRI, bridging research and clinical environments
  • Experience with high field MRI and proven track record of academic productivity strongly preferred
  • Articulated plan for translating novel technologies and findings along one or more translational research lines required

Teaching & Mentorship:

  • Mentor the next generation of radiologists and scientists including undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates
  • Cross-institutional teaching opportunities with access to both UIUC community and visiting scholars from other institutions
  • Collaborative approach to research and clinical care expected
  • Faculty appointment through the Carle Illinois College of Medicine

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $535,000 - $560,000. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
