Job description

Saalex Corporation is seeking multiple Cybersecurity Engineer II in Tidewater, VA and San Diego, CA. Saalex Corp., is an Engineering and Information Technology Services company with a focus on Test Range Operations and Management, Engineering and Logistics Services, Data Analytics and Business Intelligence Services and Information Technology Services. Founded in 1999 by Travis Mack, Saalex Solutions is a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned and Operated business with prime and subcontract expertise serving the Navy, Army, Air Force, NASA, corporate clients, and local governments. Position Type: Contingent on Contract Award.

Salary: $95k-$160k (depending on experience)

The Cybersecurity Engineer II supports the Navy by designing, implementing, and securing enterprise IT and network systems in support of global Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) environments. This role focuses on cybersecurity engineering, system hardening, and integration of secure architectures.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement and maintain secure configurations for systems, networks, and applications. 
  • Apply STIGs, patches, and security controls in accordance with RMF requirements. 
  • Support vulnerability assessments and remediation efforts. 
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of secure system architectures. 
  • Support ATO documentation and cybersecurity engineering activities. 
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure system security. 

Requirements

Required:

  • 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, IT security, or related field. 
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Experience with system security principles, network security, or secure configurations. 
  • Knowledge of RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity frameworks. 
  • Required certifications aligned to DoD 8140 (e.g., Security+, CEH, CISSP based on level). 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to design and implement secure technical solutions. 

Desired:

  • Experience supporting DoD or Navy programs. 
  • Familiarity with enterprise tools such as ACAS, HBSS, or SIEM platforms. 
  • Experience with cloud or virtualized environments. 
  • Active Secret, Top Secret, or SCI clearance preferred. 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 

Security Clearance:

Must be eligible to obtain a Secret, Top Secret, or TS/SCI clearance. Active clearances preferred. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.
