Are you an experienced electronic systems Project Engineer looking for your next great opportunity? Moog Inc. is currently recruiting a Senior Lead HW Project Engineer to support our Spaceflight hardware business in Gilbert, AZ!
What we do:
Moog's Gilbert AZ facility is a leading designer of spaceflight hardware and is a part of the Spacecraft Avionics business unit in the Space & Defense Group. Moog has partnered with NASA to provide electronic solutions for the Artemis Orion Crew Capsule, Viper Lunar Rover, Satellite Laser Communications Relay, OSIRIS-REX to study asteroid composition along with complete satellite buses for the defense department.
We are seeking an experienced electrical engineer (EE) to be the project technical lead and point of contact for customers on custom spacecraft avionics projects. Project scope includes architecture definition, design & development, component procurement, manufacturing, unit/environmental testing, and product requirement verification. The successful candidate will coordinate the work of electrical / mechanical / FPGA / software designers, test engineers, product delivery technicians, specialty design analysts, and other key members of a cross-functional project team in the pursuit of successful project execution. Working jointly with the program manager, the Senior Lead HW Project Engineer shares responsibility for execution to cost and schedule targets throughout the course of a project. Facilitative leadership between program management, quality, and operations groups will be required in this role as the Senior Lead HW Project Engineer ensures product development activities follow Moog's phase-gate process. Additionally, the Senior Lead HW Project Engineer is responsible to manage stakeholder requirements, interpreting and deriving lower-level requirements as necessary, to ensure delivery of a product that meets all customer needs. • Self-starting instincts and a strong sense of project ownership.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong technical foundation while proactively identifying and resolving technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently with internal and external customers, serving as technical focal point for projects. Confident public speaker.
  • Deep understanding of computer architecture and digital interface technologies.
  • Having experience designing or specifying space-based, radiation-hardened electronic components is highly desired.
  • Ability to work onsite and be the primary POC during product testing campaigns.

As Sr Lead HW Project Engineer, you will be responsible to:
  • Serve as lead responsible engineer and technical point of contact to customers on design, development, and production of custom space electronics.
  • Provide effective project leadership to cross-functional and cross-site engineering teams for development / qualification / production programs. Assign tasks to team members. Review work product for technical accuracy.
