General Summary
The Electronics, Instrumentation, and Computer Science Laboratory Technician maintains, repairs, calibrates, and installs electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, and manages the distribution and upkeep of laboratory tools, test equipment, and materials for students.
Under general supervision, this work study position performs skilled testing, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of equipment in the Electronics, Instrumentation, and Computer Science Laboratories, maintain laboratory housekeeping, and complete related duties as assigned.
Specific Position Duties
  • Maintain the overall order and appearance of laboratories, trainers, test equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Set up and maintain laboratory stations, including test equipment (e.g., DMMs, oscilloscopes, function generators), tools (e.g., soldering irons, cutters, probes), and materials (e.g., electronic components, wiring, network cables).
  • Assist and guide students in the proper use and care of laboratory equipment; distribute parts for lab exercises.
  • Follow and uphold laboratory procedures.
  • Install and modify equipment using manual and power tools.
  • Manage inventory of replacement parts, maintain warranty and service records, and perform quality checks on new equipment.
  • Knowledge of electronic, instrumentation and computer science lab technician in repair and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled as an Odessa College student.
  • Must qualify for Federal Work Study program.
  • Experience in the repair, maintenance, and operation of electronic equipment .
