Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aviation Systems Test Engineer 2 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this position you will work hands on with Garmin's Integrate Flight Deck, testing industry-changing and life-saving innovations, such as our recently introduced Emergency Autoland, which will revolutionize general aviation. This role will challenge you to find new and unique ways to test innovative Avionics features as they are being developed. You will have opportunities to collaborate with both Garmin's customers, as well as internal software teams to ensure that requirements are being implemented correctly.
Essential Functions
  • Provides system testing support for developmental requirements of OEM programs
  • Communicates status and schedule for the system testing needs applicable to planned deliveries
  • Provides feedback to development teams to ensure solutions are designed to meet system testing needs
  • Provides troubleshooting support to identify the system root cause
  • Provides clear and sufficient detail about issues observed with details sufficient for internal or external customers
  • Identifies and implements improvements to system testing processes and tools
  • Identifies improvements and modifies tools for use in system testing
  • Provides reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Math, Physics or another related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
  • Demonstrates knowledge of several complex integrated avionic functions
  • Demonstrates mastery of relevant tools for use in system testing
  • Demonstrates advanced troubleshooting skills
  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

Desired Qualifications
  • Previous work or internship experience with Garmin related products
  • Pilot's License
  • Previous work or internship experience with consumer or aviation products
