In this role, you'll write sharp, timely content that promotes events, celebrates achievements, and communicates key updates across internal and public channels. It's a great fit for students interested in PR, internal communications, and brand-aligned storytelling within a mission-driven, top-ranked academic department.

- Create polished content for the UTCS website, digital signage, and social media
- Help track editorial requests and updates in the project management system
- Support the tone and consistency of internal and external messaging
- Collaborate with other interns to align messaging across platforms
What You Might Work On
- A brief news post on a major faculty award or research grant
- A write-up on an alum-founded startup deploying CS tools in hospitals
- A feature story about a mentorship initiative or student support program
- Internal newsletter blurbs celebrating UTCS community wins
- Collaborating with the social media intern to develop messaging-aligned captions
Ideal Skills
- Clear, efficient writing and editing, especially for informational content
- Some experience writing for an organization (student org, internship, blog, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple short turnaround assignments
- Interest in how communication shifts between internal and public audiences
- Familiarity with university or academic environments is a plus
- Working knowledge of Asana or basic CMS tools is helpful but not required
What You'll Learn
- How to write for a variety of internal and external audiences
- Real-world experience supporting communication strategies in a large organization
- PR-style writing for digital platforms, faculty news, and events
- How to support and manage messaging consistency across departments
- Portfolio-ready writing samples with measurable impact
How to Apply
- Submit your resume and 1-2 writing samples that show your ability to communicate clearly and strategically. We're especially interested in samples that reflect PR, institutional storytelling, or event/news writing. Writing samples from class assignments or writing for student organizations are totally fine.
