Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where compassionate care and professional growth are valued. This Student Nurse Intern role offers hands-on experience under the guidance of licensed nurses, supporting patient treatment and care across various clinical settings.
General Summary
Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the intern performs diverse duties to assist in patient care, tailored to individual age and developmental needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care including assistance with daily hygiene such as bathing, hair care, oral hygiene, and grooming.
  • Deliver skin care while taking precautions to prevent skin breakdown.
  • Assist with physical activities including repositioning, ambulation, range of motion exercises, and transfer techniques.
  • Support nutritional needs by preparing patients for meals, assisting with feeding, monitoring intake, and ensuring dietary restrictions are followed.
  • Collect specimens, perform vital signs, and document intake and output accurately.
  • Perform sit baths, postmortem care, and apply therapeutic devices like TED hose, K-pads, ice packs, and binders.
  • Lead and encourage participation in performance improvement initiatives and teamwork.
  • Carry out technical nursing procedures within credentialed scope, including oxygen therapy management, catheter insertion/removal, intravenous therapy discontinuation, nasopharyngeal suctioning, dressing changes, wound care, and skin management.
  • Conduct patient assessments and collaborate closely with primary nurses.
  • Administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, and manage nasogastric tubes.
  • Educate patients and families in coordination with nursing staff.
  • Promptly report any changes in patient condition or concerns to licensed nurses.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all patient care activities in medical records.

Education
Currently enrolled in a nursing program or completed nursing education but not yet licensed.
Experience
Entry-level position; no prior experience required.
Certification/License
Not applicable.
Mental/Physical Requirements
Requires significant mental focus and physical stamina, including frequent walking, lifting, turning, and other movements.
Working Conditions
Exposure to infectious diseases, radiation, anti-neoplastic agents, and occasional challenging interactions. Minimal physical discomfort expected.
