Position: Data Science Co-op 

Location: Mississauga, ON  

Duration: 4 months 

Compensation: $25.00-37.50

Our Data Science Intern role support PepsiCo Canada’s business functions by leveraging data analysis and modeling techniques to deliver business objectives. This individual will compile, transform and analyze large diverse datasets to develop fact-based recommendations that contribute to achieving strategic goals. Success in this role requires a results-driven approach, intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, technical proficiency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.


Responsibilities
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with teams across functions (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance) to understand business needs and translate them into analytical solutions. 
  • Efficient Data Wrangling: Support the extraction, transformation, and loading of large datasets from various sources, ensuring data is clean, accurate, and ready for analysis. 
  • Integrate Solutions into Business Processes: Help deploy analytics and machine learning solutions into operational workflows, ensuring outputs are actionable and sustainable for the business. 
  • Communicate Technical Insights to Non-Technical Stakeholders: Present complex data science concepts, models, and findings in a clear, concise manner that drives business decision-making and understanding. 
  • Project Management with Agile Principles: Partner with business stakeholders to define project goals, gather regular feedback through iterative development cycles, and adjust priorities as needed to maximize impact. 
  • Visualize Insights: Create intuitive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to highlight key findings and trends, making insights accessible to broader audiences. 
  • Build and Deploy Machine Learning Models: Develop predictive and prescriptive models aimed at solving real-world business problems, such as improving performance, forecasting demand, or reducing inefficiencies. 

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field; a minor in Business or Commerce is preferred. 
  • Strong understanding of mathematical models that support data science methodologies, with familiarity in relevant programming languages. 
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills. 
  • Proven ability to succeed in fast-paced, dynamic, and complex environments. 
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities. 
  • Skilled in building effective working relationships and communicating with business stakeholders. 
  • Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis, ML modeling, and solution development. 
  • Exposure to GenAI concepts and tools is an asset. 
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to build collaborative relationships!
