Job description

IDEA Intern

Mission:

The Intern supports IDEA's mission by contributing to day-to-day team operations, project execution, and administrative priorities while developing foundational professional skills in a collaborative work environment.

Location:

This is a part-time hybrid position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:

Travel to IDEA training events or step-back may be required.

What You'll Do - Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Support assigned team with daily operational, administrative, and project-related tasks.
  • Assist with organizing, tracking, and maintaining information relevant to team priorities.
  • Prepare summaries, reports, presentations, or materials to support team initiatives.
  • Support special projects and follow-up activities as assigned.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining shared resources, files, trackers, or digital content used by the team.
  • Support documentation of project milestones, action items, and deliverables.
  • Participate in department events, planning activities, or cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
  • Provide logistical or administrative support for meetings, communications, and team deliverables.
  • Observe and learn department workflows, systems, and processes to strengthen professional understanding.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for organization and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of team and organizational priorities.

Required experience:

  • Knowledge in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Strong customer service skills

Preferred experience:

  • High School Diploma, associate or bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Planning and organizing skills
  • Interpersonal, relationship building skills
  • Has propensity for actions, willing to make mistakes by doing in order to learn and improve quickly

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 15 pounds (occasionally)

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary for this role is $11 hourly up to 20 hours/week.
