Student - Bilingual Support Intern

Job Description:
Job Summary
Coates Inc. is seeking a proactive and organized, mission-driven, bilingual professional to support communication with students and families who speak Spanish. This role is key in ensuring that our programs remain inclusive, accessible, and responsive to our diverse community. You'll work closely with the Executive Director to assist in implementing organizational strategies and enhancing overall efficiency.
Language Requirement: Fluent in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
Start Date: Fall 2026/Spring 2027
Hours: 5-10 hours/week, including weekly planning meetings with the supervisor
Pay: $12.00/hour
Responsibilities
Community & Language Support
• Provide Spanish-language support during workshops, events, and student or family meetings to help ensure clear and inclusive communication.
• Assist with translating informational materials, newsletters, and program resources under staff guidance.
• Serve as a supporting point of contact for Spanish-speaking families and partners, helping relay questions or concerns to staff.
Outreach & Communications Support
• Assist with updating and creating Spanish-language content for social media and outreach materials.
• Support program staff with outreach and follow-up efforts, including communication with families and community partners.
• Help ensure messaging is culturally responsive and accessible.
Program & Event Support
• Assist with activities related to programming, workshops, and events, including preparation of materials and on-site support.
• Help staff maintain organized records related to program participation and outreach activities.
Administrative & Skill Development Support
• Help organize and maintain documentation, files, and basic databases used for program and communication purposes.
• Assist with drafting basic correspondence, reports, and presentations with guidance.
• Participate in regular check-ins and team meetings to develop communication, organization, and professional skills.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Fluent in English and Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing)
• Interest in community service, education, or nonprofit work
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
• Culturally responsive, detail-oriented, and organized
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
