Description:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Food Scientist Intern to join our Research & Development team for the summer in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on exposure to full-scale manufacturing operations and laboratory settings, offering real-world application of food science, formulation, and product development principles. The intern will support the R&D team with sample preparation, experimentation, product evaluations, and scale-up activities while gaining valuable industry experience.

  • Prepare samples for product testing and evaluation, including scaling ingredients and mixing doughs
  • Assist with formulation procedures for new and existing products
  • Conduct alternate ingredient experiments and accurately record data/results
  • Support scale-up operations from lab to production
  • Participate in tasting, ideation, and product development sessions
  • Assist in product evaluations and testing
  • Assist with preparation and shipment of outgoing samples
  • Support Sample Coordinator as needed
  • Follow all food safety, GMP, and SOP requirements
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Food Science or related field
  • Basic understanding of food science principles required
  • Prior experience in food production, lab work, warehousing, or shipping is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures carefully
  • Comfortable working in lab, office, and manufacturing environments
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 30 lbs
  • Moderate computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities

Work Environment

  • Office, laboratory, production, and warehouse environments
  • Standing/walking for extended periods may be required
  • Products manufactured may contain peanuts, tree nuts, and other allergens
