Job Description

Summary

The IT Network Intern assists IT professionals with maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting an organization’s network infrastructure. Responsibilities typically include configuring hardware like computers and network printers and routers and switches, monitoring network performance, and resolving user connectivity issues. This role provides hands-on experience in a real-world IT environment.  The intern must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have good communication skills while proactively promoting The McWane Way principles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members
  •  Hardware Setup: Assist with the installation, configuration of computers, printers and network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve computer and printer issues and network connectivity issues, including physical cabling and IP configurations.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain network maps, wiring diagrams, hardware inventories, and change logs.
  • Security & Administration: Support network security protocols and assist with basic IP address management
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Fundamental Knowledge: Familiarity with networking fundamentals like TCP/IP, subnets, and basic routing concepts.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of pc’s and printers and network hardware.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and clear communication for assisting team members and end-users.
  • Must have positive attitude and good work ethic.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
