Job description

American Farm Bureau Insurance Services, Inc. (AFBIS, Inc.) is looking for a Software Engineer to work out of our Fargo, ND office. As a member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing software solutions using the Microsoft .NET technology stack. This is a hybrid role working out of the Fargo office at least two days a week and one additional day within a two-week period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build impactful software by writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code using VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, and related technologies.
  • Help shape and enhance our existing applications—identifying opportunities to improve performance, scalability, and security.
  • Develop innovative solutions using the Microsoft .NET stack while following modern coding standards and best practices.
  • Maintain, debug, and improve CI/CD pipelines across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Support reliable releases by contributing to automated deployment pipelines, including scripting, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Partner closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver seamless, end-to-end software solutions.
  • Share your expertise by mentoring fellow developers and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation for code, APIs, and system architecture—making it easier for teams to build, scale, and onboard.

What you will bring to this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with 3+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience with relational databases and the Microsoft .NET technology stack
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and complete complex technical challenges and projects
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality software solutions while meeting project deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Crop insurance knowledge is a plus

The expected starting salary range for this position is between $70,000 and $85,000. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
