Duties and Responsibilities: I. Teaching
โ€ข Provide learning experiences in accordance with students' needs and abilities
โ€ข Create a learning environment in which all students are treated equitably and with respect for diversity
โ€ข Make adequate preparation for the instructional process to ensure that course content is presented in a manner suitable for students with varying learning styles
โ€ข Direct students not on the official class roster to the Office of Enrollment Management to correct enrollment problems, restricting attendance to officially
โ€ข Meet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe and provide opportunities for student conferences either online, by phone, or through face-to-face interactions
โ€ข Be punctual with respect to class meetings and provide instruction for the entire class period
โ€ข Notify academic program manager/department chair of absences and promptly provide course continuity plans
โ€ข Utilize Canvas or other learning management systems as appropriate and required
โ€ข Use instructional and technological resources such as the library, Digital Learning and Academic Support Center (DLASC), and computer technology as appropriate
โ€ข Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and federal harassment policies
โ€ข Alert the department chair or academic program manager of any instances of academic dishonesty
โ€ข Maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week
โ€ข Maintain accurate grade and attendance records
โ€ข Assess learning outcomes and utilize results when planning and preparing future courses
โ€ข Administer final examinations for students during the scheduled exam period
โ€ข Participate in assigning course credit via prior learning assessment
โ€ข Participate in the teaching evaluation process
II. Student Support and Advising
โ€ข Discuss with counselors and other appropriate personnel any student problems which may require special attention
โ€ข Advise students and perform special assigned duties related to the registration and retention of students
III. Curriculum Development
โ€ข Develop, assess, and revise curricula in accordance with the policies and procedures upheld by the Faculty Senate Courses and Curricula committee
IV. Professional Development
โ€ข Engage in approved professional development activities related to pedagogy, assessment, and academic area of expertise to enhance one's effectiveness in all aspects of teaching and course management
V. College Service
โ€ข Participate in recruitment, advising, and registration events
โ€ข Serve on college-wide committees and actively participate in committee activities throughout the term of service
VI. Administrative and Other Responsibilities
โ€ข Adhere to professional standards of conduct
โ€ข Promote the College's image in the community
โ€ข Promote an atmosphere of collegiality within one's department and division
โ€ข Submit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlines
โ€ข Attend all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings
โ€ข Collaborate with departmental and college-wide colleagues in the selection of library resources, software, textbooks, and classroom equipment
โ€ข Attend college convocations and participate in commencement exercises (attired in appropriate academic regalia)
โ€ข Participate in the annual faculty performance evaluation process
โ€ข Participate in other duties as assigned
Required Education: Master's degree in any discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
