Duties and Responsibilities: I. Teaching
โข Provide learning experiences in accordance with students' needs and abilities
โข Create a learning environment in which all students are treated equitably and with respect for diversity
โข Make adequate preparation for the instructional process to ensure that course content is presented in a manner suitable for students with varying learning styles
โข Direct students not on the official class roster to the Office of Enrollment Management to correct enrollment problems, restricting attendance to officially
โข Meet all scheduled classes within the appropriate timeframe and provide opportunities for student conferences either online, by phone, or through face-to-face interactions
โข Be punctual with respect to class meetings and provide instruction for the entire class period
โข Notify academic program manager/department chair of absences and promptly provide course continuity plans
โข Utilize Canvas or other learning management systems as appropriate and required
โข Use instructional and technological resources such as the library, Digital Learning and Academic Support Center (DLASC), and computer technology as appropriate
โข Provide classroom instruction in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and federal harassment policies
โข Alert the department chair or academic program manager of any instances of academic dishonesty
โข Maintain a minimum of 10 office hours per week
โข Maintain accurate grade and attendance records
โข Assess learning outcomes and utilize results when planning and preparing future courses
โข Administer final examinations for students during the scheduled exam period
โข Participate in assigning course credit via prior learning assessment
โข Participate in the teaching evaluation process
II. Student Support and Advising
โข Discuss with counselors and other appropriate personnel any student problems which may require special attention
โข Advise students and perform special assigned duties related to the registration and retention of students
III. Curriculum Development
โข Develop, assess, and revise curricula in accordance with the policies and procedures upheld by the Faculty Senate Courses and Curricula committee
IV. Professional Development
โข Engage in approved professional development activities related to pedagogy, assessment, and academic area of expertise to enhance one's effectiveness in all aspects of teaching and course management
V. College Service
โข Participate in recruitment, advising, and registration events
โข Serve on college-wide committees and actively participate in committee activities throughout the term of service
VI. Administrative and Other Responsibilities
โข Adhere to professional standards of conduct
โข Promote the College's image in the community
โข Promote an atmosphere of collegiality within one's department and division
โข Submit syllabi, office hours, grades, attendance, electronic time sheets, and other reports by established deadlines
โข Attend all departmental, division, and general faculty meetings
โข Collaborate with departmental and college-wide colleagues in the selection of library resources, software, textbooks, and classroom equipment
โข Attend college convocations and participate in commencement exercises (attired in appropriate academic regalia)
โข Participate in the annual faculty performance evaluation process
โข Participate in other duties as assigned
Required Education: Master's degree in any discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline
in Computer Science
