Job description

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Senior Data Analyst utilizes quantitative and qualitative research and analysis to develop and monitor operational benchmarks and recommend strategies to improve operational effectiveness. The Senior Data Analyst will build, maintain and support the enterprise reporting layer to provide users with efficient and functional tools and data that can provide business insights and optimize data driven decision making.

Position Details
  • Non-union. This position is Temporary full time for up to 12 months.

Key Accountabilities
  • Reporting, analysis and interpretation of performance indicators, internal benchmarks and opportunities for stakeholders, including accessing and analyzing confidential or sensitive information.

  • Provide analytical insight to the dependencies and interrelationships between data and benchmarks to recommend business efficiencies and inform business strategy.

  • Provide strategic operating intelligence and business metrics for stakeholders to enable data driven decision making and reporting at the department and corporate levels.

  • Lead the identification and implementation ofdata-basedsolutions for complex business and technical challenges.

  • Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders such as subject matter experts, management, and executives to determine data needs, provide data analysis and present business insights.

  • Collaborate with business units to develop robust research questions and contribute to all steps of the data analysis process, including hypothesis generation, exploring data, modelling/interpreting/communicating results, and measuring their implementation.

  • Ensure knowledge sharing and management of current data analytics artifacts.

  • Researchand designforecasting and modeling tools to identify operating trends, identifies anomalies, probable impacts, and recommends corrective actions.

  • Research, develop, design, implement and maintain internalreporting datasets (semantic layer)as well as other data driven applications.

  • Lead the implementation, development and designs in corporate Business Intelligence Tools.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • A recognized bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

  • Five (5) years in reporting or analytics role.

  • Advanced knowledge of SQL and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.

  • Significant experience with Power BI, SQL Server and SSIS.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and presenting ideas to stakeholders.

  • Strong facilitation, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in Python, big data tools, and cloud services considered an asset.

  • Ability to work on a team while building and maintaining effective relationships.

A suitable combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
