Job description

We are seeking a versatileSenior Systems Analyst to join our IT team. You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of our network infrastructure while being involved with our cybersecurity defense strategies. You will install and configure both hardware and software, monitor network traffic for anomalies, and respond to security incidents to protect our sensitive data.


SPECIFIC TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, and maintain essential network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Security Monitoring: Use SIEM and IDS/IPS tools to monitor network traffic for suspicious activity, unauthorized access, or policy violations.
  • Incident Response: Act as a first responder to security breaches, identifying the root cause and implementing measures to minimize damage and prevent recurrence.
  • System Hardening: Develop and maintain device hardening standards and manage network access control lists (ACLs) and VPN configurations.
  • Support: Perform routine network maintenance, firmware updates, and hardware repairs for PCs, laptops, wired and cellular phones, printers, and access control readers.
  • Connectivity: Deliver advanced troubleshooting for city-wide connectivity issues across remote wired/wireless connections, fiber LAN segments, cellular APN pathways, internet backhauls, and VPN tunnels.
  • Maintenance: Maintenance, repair, and admin of local area networking, phone system configuration, switches, security, and PC software problems.
  • Evaluation: Lead role in identifying inefficiencies and security risks with network and workflows.
  • Project Results: Translate and champion business and IT goals into technical architectures.
  • Communication: Translate complex technical environments to a non-technical audience.
  • Public Safety Systems Support: Provide tier-2 administration, repair, and configuration for specialized law enforcement technology, including Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), and Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs) in patrol assets.
  • On-Call Operations: Participate in a rotational 24/7/365 on-call schedule to provide support for mission-critical public safety systems that require continuous uptime.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in systems analysis, network administration or IT support preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in TCP/IP networking, switching, routing protocols, and VLAN segregation preferred.
    • Hands-on experience with firewall administration (e.g., cloud-managed Cisco Meraki, Palo Alto, or Sonic Wall) preferred.
    • Advanced Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office product knowledge preferred.
    • Virtualization: Exposure to configuring and maintaining virtualization server environments preferred.
  • Must possess valid driver's license.

HOURS/SCHEDULING

  • Typical work hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
  • This position is generally scheduled Monday through Friday during regular City business hours; however, additional hours may be required to meet operational needs. The position requires flexibility to respond to emergency maintenance issues, support City events, and perform other after-hours responsibilities as assigned.
