Job description

Job Summary:
IBM is seeking a Cybersecurity Analyst Apprentice to join their local cohort and learn about cybersecurity while applying technical knowledge in a Security Operations Center. The role involves monitoring client systems for security threats, conducting vulnerability assessments, and collaborating with teams to respond to incidents.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and audit client systems to ensure the protection of those systems, information resources, and data within
• Monitor, track, and analyze networks/systems for potential security violations/anomalies and respond to all such incidents
• Work with all teams to investigate potential security violations, respond, and report accordingly
• Perform continuous monitoring duties such as vulnerability assessments, manual configuration reviews, and event analysis.
• Conduct incident/event investigation and analysis and tests security products and systems to detect security weaknesses.
• Assess and detect network vulnerabilities.
• Maintain security system infrastructure.
• Maintain awareness of cyber trends, threats, and vulnerabilities.
• Install, configure, deploy, integrate, operate and maintain security toolsets.
Qualifications:
Required:

• Knowledge or some experience in any one of the following: Operating Systems like Windows, Linux

• Knowledge or some experience in any one of the following: Perl, PHP, Python and/or other scripting languages
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
• Willingness to complete the requirements of the apprenticeship program
• High School Diploma or GED
• Some knowledge or experience with any of the following: Operating Systems like Windows, Linux
• Some knowledge or experience with any of the following: General networking and infrastructure fundamentals
• Some knowledge or experience with any of the following: Perl, PHP, Python and/or other scripting languages
• Some knowledge or experience with any of the following: Cyber security fundamentals
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred:
• Associate's Degree/College Diploma
• An Associates Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related.
• Consulting Methodologies Knowledge: Exposure to consulting approaches and techniques used to drive transformation and provide value to clients, including familiarity with industry and regulatory requirements.
• Security Programs Understanding: Basic understanding of security programs and compliance requirements in industry-leading organizations, with curiosity about their application in various contexts.
• Advisory Services Familiarity: Exposure to advisory services and the role of a trusted advisor in supporting client engagements, with awareness of the development of security solutions.
