Job description

Job Overview:
Linde is seeking a skilled and motivated Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician to support critical safety systems, ensure operational reliability, and contribute to continuous improvement across multiple facilities. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong instrument and analytical abilities, technical expertise, self-motivation, and a commitment to safe, high-quality work. This role requires both field and office work and may include overtime, holidays, after-hours responsibilities, and regional support for major maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
Instrumentation & Electrical Maintenance:
  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting, installation, and repair of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Conduct maintenance and minor repair of low-voltage electrical systems (600 VAC and below).
  • Troubleshoot and maintainplant automation equipment, including: analog and digital process control instrumentation, and area atmospheric monitoring equipment.
  • Diagnose issues using control logic diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and related engineering documentation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot motor control systems, pneumatic controls, and control valves.
  • Execute startup / shutdown activities and assist with process equipment operations.
Analytical & Process Equipment Support:
  • Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of process analytical equipment, which may include:
    • Thermal Conductivity analyzers
    • Gas Chromatographs
    • Electrolytic process analyzers
    • Mass spectrometry analyzers
    • Hands on knowledge with Servomex, Tiger Optics, Orthodyne, Siemens, Teledyne. - preferred
  • Apply knowledge of gas analyzer selector manifolds and gas calibration standards.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to updating, improving calibration practices
  • Maintain, review and redline P&ID drawings.
  • Use analytical skills to evaluate diagnostic data, equipment performance trends, and failure modes.
Technical Documentation & Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain detailed operating and maintenance histories for all assigned equipment.
  • Prepare and manage documentation including EAM/ProCal work orders, service reports, calibration records, and associated CMMS entries.
  • Document repair history for predictive maintenance (PdM) instrumentation.
  • Ensure proper spare parts availability and initiate replenishment when needed.
Safety, Compliance & Team Support:
  • Maintain high standards of personal safety and environmental awareness.
  • Adhere to Linde safety procedures and regulatory requirements during all activities.
  • Instruct contractors on safety rules and maintain oversight to ensure compliance.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment and support regional facilities during projects, turnarounds, and maintenance events.
  • Safely climb ladders, stairways, and use man-lifts to access elevated instrumentation and valves.
Key Analytical & Technical Skills:
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in identifying abnormal operating conditions using instrument trends, alarm logs, and diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to evaluate calibration results, troubleshoot measurement inaccuracies, and validate analyzer performance.
  • Understanding of measurement principles for: pressure, flow, level, temperature, gas concentrations, and electrical signals.
  • Ability to apply root-cause analysis (RCA) techniques for recurring instrumentation and electrical issues.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 5 years related experience in process control instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with a variety of I/E hand tools meters, instrument calibration equipment etc.
  • Working knowledge of electricity, electrical systems and motors.
  • Can read and understand P&ID's and schematic wiring diagrams.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Written and oral communication skills

  • Associates in Applied Sciences Degree or equivalent apprenticeship preferred
