Job description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Engineered Sales Representative (CAD Drafter) to support customers and internal sales teams by creating technical drawings, preparing quotations, and coordinating manufacturing requirements. This role is ideal for someone with a strong CAD background who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and customer service.


Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret customer drawings, blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
  • Create, modify, and maintain technical drawings using AutoCAD 2D.
  • Generate DXF and DWG files from customer-provided sketches and documents.
  • Prepare accurate quotations by calculating material, processing, packaging, and production costs.
  • Optimize material utilization through nesting and layout planning.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to determine material availability and production requirements.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for secondary and value-added services.
  • Select appropriate materials based on customer specifications and application requirements.
  • Enter quotations and orders into the ERP system.
  • Communicate directly with customers to clarify requirements, answer technical questions, and resolve issues.
  • Support sales and operations teams throughout the order lifecycle.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certificate, Associate's degree, or formal training in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in CAD drafting, manufacturing, technical sales support, estimating, or a related role.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with metal fabrication, manufacturing, machining, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, or related processes is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing manufacturing or fabrication quotes.
  • Knowledge of material nesting and optimization.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing workflows and production processes.
