Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The PC Technician position is responsible for assisting the IT Manager with the installation, maintenance and repair of computers and networks across all CAFI locations. Under minimal supervision from the IT Manager, the PC Technician will ensure that IT infrastructure is in place and is used to its maximum capabilities.

Qualified candidates will be familiar with computer systems and hardware/software maintenance. The ideal candidate will be able to work diligently and accurately and will possess a great problem-solving ability to fix issues and ensure functionality.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Set up hardware and install and configure software and drivers.
  • Maintain and repair technological equipment or peripheral devices (printers, speakers etc.).
  • Manage security options and software in computers and networks to maintain privacy and protection from attacks.
  • Perform software and hardware upgrades to ensure systems remain updated.
  • Troubleshoot system failures or bugs and provide solutions to restore functionality.
  • Arrange maintenance sessions to discover and mend inefficiencies.
  • Keep records of repairs and fixes for future reference.
  • Offer timely technical support and teach users how to utilize computers correctly.
  • Periodically travel to CAFI service locations in Carrollton, Newnan, Franklin, and Manchester to install hardware

  • This job operates in a clean, organized, and professional office environment and inside classrooms of early learning centers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum
    • High school diploma / GED
    • 1 Year of experience in IT or computer repair
  • Preferred
    • Associates degree or BSc/BA in Computer Science, engineering, or relevant field

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to pass an FBI background check
  • Must have a valid GA drivers license with a clean 3-year MVR
  • Proven experience as computer technician or similar role.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer systems and IT components.
  • Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Very good communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizing and time-management skills.
  • Relevant certifications will be an advantage.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; kneel beneath desks; and lift approximately 50 pounds.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a part-time position; days and hours of work are 3 days (25 hrs.) per week, unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director.
