Job description

Job Summary/Overview
The Repair Technician tests, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic components and systems, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, repair and test various electronic components and systems including returned materials.
  • Ability to work on Low Voltage power electronics and components up to 120 volts.
  • Navigate the Magnetek ERP system to locate the appropriate documentation and processes to complete the repair activity
  • Process, test, prepare for shipment, as required or if needed, to include any or all of the following; product programming; downloading of parameters; inputting and printing data from the Magnetek ERP system Manage 2000.; printing shipping papers, forwarding product and documentation to the distribution department for shipping.
  • Navigate the Magnetek ERP system to locate the appropriate documentation and processes to complete the repair activity.
  • Prepare repair reports and estimates for repairs, and complete the required paperwork to complete the repair process.
  • Ensure the completion of all required records, paperwork, reports, documents, etc.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.
  • Maintain technical competency, technical knowledge of current and new products, and remain current in technology and changes in the industry.
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job-related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, digital camera, photocopier, etc.
  • Requires proficiency utilizing and operating various electronic testing equipment and meters.
  • Ability to solder and remove whole components from printed circuit boards and SMT components.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams and technical specifications, as it pertains to products.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, electrical schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Work with departments on resolving product issues as needed, the departments include application engineering, research & development and Quality.

Required Qualifications
  • Requires an associate degree in electronics; or two years of college in related electronics coursework and three to five years of repair/service-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
