Job description

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a qualified Project Manager with 10+ years of experience in planning, designing, permitting and construction of drinking water and wastewater-related projects. The position will lead to an increasing level of client development and management commensurate with experience, supported by our regional offices and firm-wide technical resources.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Project management
  • Supervising junior staff 
  • Lead business development activities including preparation of proposals and presentations
  • Preparation of assessment and design reports 
  • Performing design calculations
  • Equipment sizing/selection
  • Preparation of construction documents, and support needs for construction management/commissioning
  • Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required with occasional travel 

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 – 15 years of experience in the water/wastewater field
  • Experience managing interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the client’s needs 
  • Experience in successfully delivering projects with collaborative, multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience in planning, design, and construction for municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Project management experience 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and capable of interacting effectively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies
  • Self-starter with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in all MS Office based computer software
  • PE license is required (KY preferred or ability to obtain reciprocity within six months of employment)
  • B.S. degree in Environmental, Civil, or Biosystems Engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s) of Science or Engineering from an ABET-accredited U.S. program (other engineering degrees considered case by case)
