Job description

Title:

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Program Summary

KBR is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team at our office in Las Cruces, NM. The Mechanical Engineering Intern will be responsible as a part-time college/university mechanical engineering student for beginning level engineering of mechanical systems. The selected candidate will support multiple projects from a mechanical engineering standpoint in an RF communications industry.

Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer Intern will work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment amongst professionals within an engineering and manufacturing facility. Under the supervision and mentorship of a senior engineer, this intern will be introduced but not limited to processes, procedures, and tools to efficiently perform analysis on stress, strain, thermal management, hardware integration, component selection, and engineering documentation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Learn details of and function within our cross-functional engineering team

Review and update drawings by utilizing appropriate design, revision, and procedures

Research and identify new mechanical parts, components, and materials

Support IR&D, general design analyses, and design validation efforts

Design documentation support and design review preparations

Provide support to engineering during onsite or remote system integration efforts

Manage data, including test results, Bills-of-Material, quotations, drawings, technical data sheets, etc.

Perform integration and equipment installations

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a four-year university, pursuing a degree in Mechanical and/or Aerospace Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

Basic experience using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00

Able to work a minimum 20 hours per week during the semester, 40+ hours during the summer

Able to perform manufacturing tasks (hardware integration, equipment installations, assembly, etc.)
