Position Description:
CGI is seeking an enthusiastic, creative Senior ColdFusion Developer to join a high performing Agile team supporting a large government agency. You will lead the maintenance and modernization of legacy ColdFusion applications that are critical to agency operations, while guiding technical teams and collaborating with clients to deliver innovative solutions. This role offers the opportunity to shape modernization roadmaps, mentor developers, and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Your future duties and responsibilities:
As a Senior ColdFusion Developer, you will:
Lead and mentor technical teams in the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of ColdFusion applications.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize legacy ColdFusion systems, ensuring reliability and performance.
Develop and implement application modernization roadmaps and plans, including architecture assessments and migration strategies.
Communicate technical concepts and modernization strategies to clients, end users, and leadership in clear, accessible language.
Participate in all phases of the Agile software development lifecycle: design, estimation, coding, code reviews, and demonstrations.
Collaborate with project managers, analysts, and clients to define requirements and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Author and review application code in ColdFusion, JavaScript, SQL, and related technologies.
Utilize Java development experience and Oracle APEX knowledge to support integration, migration, or modernization efforts.
Conduct technical design sessions to create sustainable, high performing features and provide accurate estimates and timelines.
Author automated testing scripts and promote continuous improvement of development tools and technologies.
Prepare documentation, architecture diagrams, and technical plans to support ongoing operations and future initiatives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
A successful candidate will have:
Extensive professional experience developing and maintaining ColdFusion applications, including legacy systems.
Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor developers.
Strong communication skills for translating complex technical concepts to clients and stakeholders.
Experience developing modernization strategies, roadmaps, and migration plans for enterprise applications.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and DevSecOps principles.
Hands on experience with SQL and database design for web applications.
Ability to work independently and within dynamic team environments, continuously delivering quality code.
Confident communication skills with both internal team members and customers.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other technical discipline.
