Job description

This position is in the Boston Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) Coordinating Center located at the Lafayette City Center, 2 Avenue de Lafayette, Boston, MA 02111. The incumbent will function as a SQL programmer responsible for providing data management and programming support for national multi-center studies.Qualifications:Basic Requirement: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
Evaluation of Education:
Applicants should have sufficient knowledge to understand the fundamental concepts and techniques of computer science. Courses designed to provide an introduction to computer science techniques and methodologies, to problems of system design, and to other specialized fields are acceptable. Courses or experience in teaching elementary, business, or shop mathematics are not acceptable.

In addition to the basic education requirement, you must meet one of the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes designing and developing effective databases using programming language SQL; developing new or modified work procedures and methods, program data requirements, management processes, and related program administration procedures to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

Education: Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in a field directly related to the work (such as computer science, mathematics or, statistics) that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: Transcripts required.

Combination: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond the first year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level.
