Electrical Engineering Intern

Intern Timeline: 3 Month Summer Intern

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm

Location: Beverly, MA (Onsite)

We are searching for an Electrical Engineering Intern for a 3-month assignment at our Beverly, MA, facility. Our intern program is designed to develop early career talent and build a strong pipeline of future engineers. Students gain hands-on exposure, work on real projects, and make meaningful contributions. Throughout the program, interns will build technical skills, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and gain real -world experience that enhances both their academic learning and future career opportunities.

About the Role

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support a variety of engineering activities across electrical hardware, systems, and operations. Responsibilities include assisting with general electrical engineering tasks, participating in systems engineering workflows, and performing handson tool testing. The intern will also complete basic Altium CAD work, including schematic reviews and part library cleanup.

Additional responsibilities include supporting design reviews, contributing to test plan development, executing tests, and documenting test results. The role also involves reviewing, organizing, and cleaning up engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

This internship provides exposure to real engineering workflows, crossfunctional collaboration, and practical product development experience.

What You'll Do

  • Support engineering activities across electrical hardware, systems, and operations.
  • Assist with general electrical engineering tasks and daytoday engineering support.
  • Participate in systems engineering workflows and crossfunctional coordination.
  • Perform handson tool testing and assist in test execution.
  • Conduct basic Altium CAD work, including schematic reviews and part library cleanup.
  • Support design reviews and contribute to developing test plans.
  • Document test results and help maintain accurate test records.
  • Review, organize, and clean up engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BS EE) or a related field.
  • Interest in electrical hardware design and core electrical engineering principles
  • Exposure to basic systems engineering workflows.
  • Handson ability to support tool testing, execute tests, and analyze test results.
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Altium CAD for schematic review and part library maintenance.
  • Ability to participate in design reviews, contribute to test plans, and document engineering work.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize, review, and improve engineering documentation.
  • Enthusiasm for learning realworld product development processes and collaborating across engineering teams.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in Altium CAD
    • Experience in other PCB or schematic software
    • Experience with specifying and approving electronic components for use in designs.
    • Experience with SiliconExpert software

U.S. BASE SALARY RANGE

$20.42 - $35.70

This base salary range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations.

Our salary ranges are determined by role and level; individual pay is determined based on

multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, work

location, and internal equity. The range provides the opportunity for growth and progression as

you develop within the role.

Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package which includes eligibility in the

Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan, and comprehensive benefits package (for regular

employees working 20+ hours a week).
