About The Role

Tailoring our approach to the specific nature of the development, we meticulously prepare engineering documents necessary for submission. These documents serve as a testament to our unwavering commitment to adhere to municipal design standards and criteria, assuring the municipality that the proposed development won't adversely affect adjacent properties or downstream infrastructure. 

Embedded within Egis’s land development process is a thorough assessment of natural features on each site. Our meticulous plans are designed to minimize environmental impacts while ensuring the sustainable development of your project. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Wide ranging project opportunity to deliver the planning, design, and land development, municipal servicing, linear and heavy civil infrastructure projects, from concept through construction and post-construction acceptance. These include subdivisions, site plans, mixed-use developments, lot grading, stormwater management, sanitary and water servicing, roadway and access design, and utility coordination, arterial roadways, urban reconstruction, highway improvements, bridges/culverts, water/wastewater conveyance, and stormwater management systems.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary teams of engineers, technologists, and subconsultants, ensuring high-quality deliverables that meet municipal, provincial, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop skills with assistance of intermediate and senior staff, in stormwater management, sanitary and water servicing, grading and drainage, roadway design, and utility coordination for subdivision, site plan, and municipal capital projects.
  • Secure and expedite approvals by preparing and reviewing technical reports, drawings, and submissions for subdivisions, site plans, zoning amendments, and environmental approvals.
  • Field Investigations, Site Visits and Construction Support, including tender documents, shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, progress certifications, field inspections, and resolution of technical and contractual issues.
  • Promote innovation and sustainability, integrating Low Impact Development (LID), green infrastructure, and resilient design principles into project solutions.
  • Ensure rigorous quality control across all project phases, reviewing designs for constructability, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness prior to submission.
  • Provide input into proposals including new service proposals and client change requests. 
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background, skills and attributes:

  • Completion of a university degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Previous co-op or summer work-term experience in Alberta is a requirement.
  • Experience in design on land development or municipal engineering projects in Alberta is preferred.
  • Experience contributing to multidisciplinary teams is considered an asset.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training in Alberta  (APEGA).
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil3D are an asset. 
  • Experience working with Projectwise, Autodesk Forma, Procore, Sharepoint or other cloud-based platforms is considered an asset. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French bilingual is considered an asset).
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, time management and ability to think creatively;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
