A concentrics operator is expected to load production reels into payoffs and leadering the cable through the machine to apply aluminum or copper wires around the cable. The operator will follow specifications in the job description. The description will provide details as to cable size, conductor type, quantity of wires and lay length. The operator will use nosecones for wire spacing and a closing die to remain within the OD tolerance. The operator will input data into Axiom to support his/ her work for quality to review.
SHIFT DETAILS
Working Shift: Fri-Sun 7am-7pm (Work 36 hrs. and get paid for 52hrs)
Training Shift: Mon-Thur 7pm-7am
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Review documentation / work orders
  • Set up, operate and monitor concentric and taping machines, and payoff including but not limited to the following tasks:
  • Move/load reels, feed wire and / or tape onto machines
  • Weld / connect wires and tape
  • Change machine components / gears
  • Apply and repair print on cables
  • Monitor quality, take samples
  • Operate fork truck / lift, change propane cylinders
  • Document process, label product
  • Communicate with supervisor
  • Clean work area
  • Train employees
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to load copper or aluminum wire spools into the concentric machine prior to running jobs. Must be able to unload spools after each job or when spools run out of wire. Must be able to read an OD tape and a micrometer to measure neutral wires. Operator must be able to read specs from Axiom to be able to make the product within specifications. Must know how to use a hoist to load the concentric spools. Be able to operate a forklift and a reel carrier to transport reels back and forth.
COMPETENCIES
The operator should be able to measure using an OD tape or Micrometer. The operator must have basic computer skills to follow the machine dispatch in Axiom to retrieve information and enter data in the test results field. Must be able to interpret the job description for each job.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machinery or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in cable or wire manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical fitness to handle heavy equipment and the ability to stand for extended periods.
Knowledge:
• Familiarity with production line management and quality assurance standards.
• Competence in basic computer skills for data entry and record-keeping.
• Effective communication skills for reporting and team coordination.
