Machine Operator - Baler/Grinder

Lawrence Paper Company

Compensation: Starts at $25.01/hour

Location: Lawrence, KS

Shift: Second Shift (2:00 pm – 11:00 PM)

Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and dependable Machine Operator to join our team. As a Machine Operator, you are responsible for physical work, including feeding machines, stacking units, and learning to operate machines that die cut, print, and glue corrugated paper.

Responsibilities

  • Make neat bales.
  • Operate hogger to hog up all unusable paper and corrugated scrap.
  • Hand tie wax bale wires.
  • Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate bale reports.
  • Maintain inventories of bailing wire, wax tags, no wax tags, and scrap bales.
  • Operate a forklift in a safe manner when necessary.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Be proactive with maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of prior forklift experience required.
  • Safety and quality focused.
  • Must be dependable.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with little supervision required.
  • Must possess the ability to troubleshoot.
  • Experienced in manufacturing, specifically in operating machinery, required.
  • Must possess basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to use simple math and use basic handheld measuring tools.
