Job description

Position Summary

Fabuwood is seeking a skilled CAD Production Drafter / Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, 3D models, detailed part breakdowns, and machine-ready files for manufacturing. You will serve as the critical link between design and production, collaborating closely with project managers, CNC operators, and cabinet makers to transform custom designs into high-quality, production-ready products.

Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Drafting & Engineering
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings, engineering documents, and part lists based on architectural plans, field measurements, and conceptual sketches.

  • Create and maintain machine-ready files for CNC production, including DXF files, nested panel layouts, and toolpath-ready outputs.

  • Translate custom cabinetry and millwork designs into accurate, buildable production components.

  • Ensure drawings are complete, accurate, and meet manufacturing standards.

Production Support
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Production Leads, CNC Operators, and Cabinet Makers to verify design accuracy and manufacturability.

  • Review drawings and specifications to identify and resolve design or production issues before fabrication.

  • Specify hardware and accessories using industry-standard systems.

  • Maintain drawing libraries, part databases, and assist in standardizing construction methods.

  • Participate in design reviews and support technical problem-solving throughout the production process.

QualificationsRequired
  • 2–5 years of experience in CAD drafting, millwork engineering, production design, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD or similar).

  • Ability to produce accurate, buildable shop drawings from architectural plans and conceptual designs.

  • Strong understanding of cabinet construction methods, custom woodworking techniques, and joinery.

  • Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes and panel nesting.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.

Preferred
  • Experience preparing CNC programs or working with CAM/Nesting software.

  • Familiarity with reviewing architectural drawings, markups, and redlines.

  • Experience with high-end residential or commercial custom cabinetry projects.

  • Hands-on experience in cabinet fabrication or installation.

  • Knowledge of hardware specification and installation, including BLUM, Häfele, or similar systems.

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish).
