We are currently looking for a Press Operator Assistant to join our team.  The Press Assistant role is responsible for the set up and support of printing presses in accordance with the printing specifications and customer requirements/expectations.

Responsibilities: 

  • Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures 
  • Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes 
  • Assists in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another) 
  • Assists in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover 
  • Cleans ink pans and ancillary equipment 
  • Strips plates from cylinders 
  • Locates dies to and from press 
  • May be required to work with press operator to view labels with assistance of strobe light 
  • Comply with quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC 
  • May be required to complete quality assurance sheet and associated documentation 
  • Responsible for cleanliness of machinery and organization of the workspace 
  • Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned 
  • Related duties as assigned 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience 
  • Print shop experience helpful, but not required 
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and written form); seen as a team player 
  • Ability to read and understand a job ticket 
  • Ability to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test) 
  • Ability correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test) 
  • Ability to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test) 
  • Ability to input data in the computer 
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities 
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions 
  • Ability to stand and move around press area for long periods of time  
  • The physical demands require standing, using hands to feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear. This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements are close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
