Summary:

Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator supports the day-to-day administration and implementation of the company's health and safety programs. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career health and safety professional to apply their education while gaining practical experience in a manufacturing environment. The role assists with safety training, documentation, regulatory compliance, incident reporting, and employee safety initiatives to help maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities for this position:

Safety Communication & Culture

· Assist in the promotion of a strong safety culture through consistent messaging and employee engagement

· Assist in coordinating Safety Committee meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, and minute distribution

· Track and follow up on action items from safety meetings and inspections

· Maintain records of Safety Crew Talks and support safety communication initiatives

· Assist with safety coaching and awareness programs across departments

Workers’ Compensation & Return-to-Work

· Coordinate and track workers’ compensation claims, including documentation and follow-up

· Support return-to-work programs by liaising with employees, supervisors, and external providers

· Maintain accurate claims records and assist in preparing reports and statistics

· Identify trends and support initiatives to reduce workplace injuries

Training Coordination

· Coordinate internal and external safety training programs (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid, LOTO, lift truck, PPE)

· Schedule training sessions and maintain training records and certifications

· Support onboarding safety orientation for new hires

· Assist in delivering training sessions as required

Program Support & Implementation

· Assist in maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and documentation in alignment with regulatory requirements

· Support emergency response planning, including fire safety and evacuation procedures

· Participate in workplace inspections and track corrective actions to completion

· Assist with hazard identification and reporting processes

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting

· Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure accessibility across departments

· Support incident reporting, investigations, and documentation

· Assist with regulatory compliance activities, audits, and inspections

· Track and follow up on regulatory action items and work orders

Administrative & Operational Support

· Coordinate ordering and inventory of safety supplies, PPE, and first aid equipment

· Maintain documentation, logs, and reporting systems related to EHS activities

· Provide general administrative support to the EHS function

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience Required:

· 1–3 years of experience in health & safety, training coordination, or a related field

· Experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment is an asset

Education, Certification, Licenses & Registrations:

· Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred

· Relevant certifications (e.g., First Aid, WHMIS, or safety training credentials) considered an asset

Skills

· Strong organizational and coordination skills

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems

· Basic knowledge of workplace safety regulations (asset)

Physical Demands:
