Job Description
The Texas School Safety Center (TxSSC) is an official university-level research center at Texas State University. The TxSSC is tasked in Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code and the Governor's Homeland Security Strategic Plan with key school safety initiatives and mandates. The TxSSC serves as the clearinghouse for the dissemination of safety and security information through research, training, and technical assistance for K-12 schools and junior colleges throughout the state of Texas. As a result, Texas has become a national leader in school safety practices and is relied upon for assistance and guidance from jurisdictions throughout the nation.
Join the Texas School Safety Center and play a key role in supporting the financial and operational activities that help advance school safety initiatives across Texas. These services are provided to internal departments within the Center, Texas State University, and external stakeholders. The role primarily entails the day-to-day management of diverse contracts, travel arrangements, and procurement activities. The Business Operations Specialist will also offer technical support to TxSSC staff to ensure adherence to established policies and procedures, all while maintaining a high standard of customer service. Candidates for the Business Operations Specialist position should possess the capability to assess, evaluate, and demonstrate effective decision-making skills. The Texas School Safety Center seeks motivated professionals who are committed to excellence, collaboration, and service. Job Duties
  • Efficiently manage electronic database records.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate processing of payments, reimbursement requests, deposits, and credit card payments.
  • Monitor contracts for compliance with performance metrics, including invoicing, amendments, renewals, and closeout procedures.
  • Prepare and process various documents, including vendor forms, purchase orders, invoices, reimbursement forms, correspondence, and reports, based on oral and written instructions.
  • Facilitate travel requests, coordinate travel arrangements, and process travel reimbursements.
  • Interpret and apply relevant regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Provide technical assistance to TxSSC staff in relation to business service needs.
  • Ensure high attention to detail and organization with projects.
  • Provide technical support to external stakeholders and internal staff in a professional manner.
  • Proactively solve problems while demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
