We invite you to apply to join our team of employees who are dedicated to excellence that meet the needs of the warfighters and our customers around the world, day in and day out.Job SummaryWe are seeking experienced Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machinists and machine operators for our 1st and 2nd shift operations. Metal Part Machining focuses on operating computer or mechanically controlled machines to produce and repair metal parts for manufacturing. Analyzes engineering specifications or blueprints to define the dimensions and features of the metal part to be produced. Determines the optimal tool path for fabricating the part by selecting appropriate machine tools (e.g., lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, boring machines, etc.) and specifying the sequence of tool operations. Manually sets up/adjusts machine tools. Recommends revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problemsImpact of the RoleGeneral Profile
  • Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical scientific or operational processes
  • Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise

Essential Functions
  • Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
  • Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Additional Responsibilities
      • These positions will involve the operation of CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and various hand tools.
      Required Qualifications
      • Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 2-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Preferred education and experience: Associate's Degree
      • Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills. AS9100 Standards.
      Physical Requirements
      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
      • May be requested to work a different shift.
      • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours as required.
      • This position is Safety-Sensitive.
