An "NAP Operator" (Numerical Automatic Programmer) is a role focused on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine operation and programming. In Arizona's fabrication industry, this position bridges the gap between mechanical engineering drawings and the physical machining of raw materials, specifically for metal, pipe, or sheet metal parts.
Core Responsibilities
- MachineSetup & Operation: Calibrate and safely operate heavy fabrication machinery like CNC press brakes, lasers, and waterjets.
- Programming & Editing: Input and adjust CNC data, select appropriate tooling, and translate blueprints or mechanical engineering drawings into usable machine programs.
- Quality Control: Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to ensure they meet strict dimensional tolerances.
