Job description

Pictsweet is looking for an experienced forklift operator for our second shift. The forklift operator will pull all bulk product in support of  and to return all finished case product to designated location in the freezer.


  • Performs daily inspection of industrial truck (e.g. battery water level, brake fluid, hydraulic fluid, strobe light, etc.)
  • Moves levers and presses pedals to drive forklift and control movement of lifting apparatus.
  • Positions forks, lifting platform (or other lifting device) under, over, or around pallets, tote bins, etc., to pull and put product away (bulk and case) in a timely and efficient manner in the freezer and ensures locations are correct.
  • Notes all relevant information associated with damaged or spilled product and removes it from freezer.
  • Unloads and stacks load by raising and lowering lifting device.
  • Counts and checks orders prior to loading and unloading trucks.
  • Prepares and processes the necessary paperwork associated with the job, which includes manifests, weight, tapes, inventory records, etc.
  • May inventory materials on work floor.
  • Records pallet tag number and weight of each pallet moved.
  • Maintains warehouse and dock in a neat and orderly manner by sweeping, picking up wrap, broken boards  and slip sheets.
  • Keeps stacks of pallets, sideboards and corner posts neat and orderly.
  • Pulls all bulk product by the lot number annotated on pull sheet.
  • Ensures finished case product is stacked correctly and provides finished pallets with stretch wrap and pallet number.
  • Fills out paperwork for relocations and spill reports thoroughly, accurately and neatly.
  • Changes out forklift batteries. Ensures that batteries are properly charged and handled.
  • Follows all safety guidelines set forth by the Company.
  • Maintains work areas clean, neat and organized.
  • Assists other departments.
  • Will don personal protective equipment (PPE) before commencing work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED

EXPERIENCE: Minimum six (6) months experience operating a high lift industrial truck.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules/signs, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures.
  • Must be able to fill out required paperwork in English
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with management and truck drivers.

 REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out job responsibilities.

OTHER:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals
  • Ability to obtain OSHA Forklift Certification
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work weekends, including holidays
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, if necessary
  • Must have reliable transportation
