Job Description SummaryOrganization's Summary Statement:
Critical Infrastructure: Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) Security.
Applications and nominations are currently being accepted for the position of General Associate, Cyber Warrior Diversity Program for Critical Infrastructure: Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) Security in the School of Business, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Technology, and Tourism Management at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The position is a temporary, funded contractual appointment and reports directly to the Cyber Warrior Diversity program director.
The Cyber Warrior Diversity Program:
The purpose of the Cyber Warrior Diversity program is to train students in computer networking and cybersecurity to meet the workforce needs of the Eastern Shore of Maryland, in particular, and the State of Maryland and the nation in general. The Cyber Warrior Diversity program at UMES shall provide individuals with the training necessary to achieve the following CompTIA certifications: (1) CompTIA A+; (2) CompTIA Network+; and (3) CompTIA Security+ in addition to educational programs and training for Critical
Infrastructure: Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) Security.
Salary Range: $70,000 to $90,000
Benefits: Benefits other than leave are subject to change by action of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the University System of Maryland, or the State of Maryland. The minimum benefits to be provided to all Contingent Category II employees, on an annual basis, are listed below. These benefits shall be prorated for contracts of less than one year and for less than full-time employment.
Health Insurance - Contingent Category II employees may participate in the
State Health Insurance Program and Prescription Plans that are available to
state employees. Additionally, Contingent II employees may participate in
supplemental retirement plans approved by the State of Maryland and the
USM per laws and regulations.
Annual Leave - Five (5) days of accrued annual
Sick Leave - Three (3) days of accrued sick leave
Holidays -Eight (8) holidays - New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday
after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
Responsibilities:
The Cyber Warrior Diversity Program Specialist will facilitate non-credit
continuing education workforce development workshops and seminars to
support the successful passing of the following CompTIA certifications: (1)
CompTIA A+; (2) CompTIA Network+; and (3) CompTIA Security+ in
addition to educational programs and training for Critical Infrastructure:
Industrial Control System (ICS) and Operational Technology (OT) Security.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Preference):
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, Cybersecurity,
Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of
education and hands on experience)
Experience in Ladder Logic and/or Function Block programmable logic
controller (PLC) programming.
Experience in designing, configuring, and uploading PLC programs in the
Siemens TIA portal or a similar PLC vendor.
Experience using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
software.
Experience in configuring and managing basic network devices such as
routers, switches, and firewalls.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve common computer network issues in a
lab environment.
Ability to design and deliver technical training sessions and workshops for
students and faculty
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
3+ years of relevant experience in industrial automation, control systems,
or OT/ICS/cybersecurity environments.
Proficient in Python and/or C/C++ programming
CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ certification (or equivalent
vendor/industry certifications such as CCNA, GICSP, etc.)
Physical Demands:
May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at
desk.
May require lifting.
Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Three (3) years of experience in related field.

Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
