Reporting to the Program Manager, the Technical Writer / Application Test Analyst will support software development efforts by creating, maintaining, and managing technical documentation while performing usability testing of applications throughout the software development lifecycle.

This position serves as a key liaison between end users, developers, and project stakeholders to ensure software functionality, documentation accuracy, and compliance with established development standards.The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, product teams, and Government stakeholders to document system functionality, map workflows, validate software requirements, identify defects, and track issues through resolution in support of Advanced Interactive Management Technology Center (AIMTC) systems.This is a position located in Newport, RI. What You'll Do * Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive software documentation, including user manuals, system administration guides, technical specifications, SOPs, API documentation, database design documentation, and process/workflow documentation. * Create and maintain clear workflow diagrams and process maps that accurately reflect application functionality and business processes.

* Manage documentation version control, ensuring all materials are properly organized, tracked, and maintained throughout the software development lifecycle. * Participate in Agile development activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and team discussions. * Provide regular updates on documentation progress and proactively identify evolving documentation needs as systems and requirements change.

* Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures supporting software product delivery and business processes. * Conduct usability testing following releases, deployments, and feature updates to ensure systems meet user needs and design intent. * Validate software functionality against user requirements and acceptance criteria.

* Identify, document, reproduce, and track software defects using established tracking tools. * Collaborate with software engineers and developers to clarify requirements, investigate issues, verify fixes, and support defect resolution. * Perform regression testing to ensure previously resolved issues remain fixed after updates.

* Document test results, findings, and recommendations, and communicate outcomes to stakeholders. * Assist in developing test scenarios, test scripts, and user acceptance testing (UAT) procedures. * Ensure all documentation and testing activities comply with established QA standards, development processes, and organizational procedures.

* Bid and proposal support if requested. * Other duties as assigned. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications: * An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.

* HS Diploma required. * At least seven (7) years of experience in computer systems design, software development, computer networking, or technical documentation of software systems. * Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or Federal Government software development programs.

* Experience working directly with software engineers and development teams in an Agile environment. * Experience creating technical documentation for software applications and information systems. * Experience conducting software testing, usability testing, or quality assurance activities.

* Experience using bug tracking and issue management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar platforms). * Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation. * Experience developing workflow diagrams, process maps, and technical illustrations.

* Proficiency with standard documentation tools. * Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills. * Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Demonstrated problem-solving skills.

* Must possess strong time management skills. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment. * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
