Job description

JOB TITLE: Senior Network Engineer and Firewall Implementation
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time
EXPERIENCE: 7 years of experience in network and firewall management
REPORTS TO: Director, Security Operation Center
POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Network Engineer and Firewall Implementation is a dual role member of the Managed Security Services (MSS) Team and is responsible for helping the MSS and Managed Cloud Teams implement, manage and maintain client firewalls and switches. This role will be an escalation and confirmation point in the process of event triage and response for client firewall, switching, and VPN related issues and must be able to perform many different tasks within the SOC and mentor other SOC resources to further expand the SOC's capabilities and capacity to grow, with a focus on extending the firewall and network administration capabilities within the team.
This position will require maintenance and support work outside of normal business hours (8 am - 5 pm) Eastern including nights and weekends at times based on client requirements and change management windows.
SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Fully able to setup and implement new firewalls and network infrastructure without assistance
โ€ข Work with other Network Engineers to manage and support client firewalls
โ€ข Monitor and triage cybersecurity incidents and event triggers from client firewalls
โ€ข Provide teaching and mentoring the entire SOC on Network related items
โ€ข Document security incident use cases, help develop and update procedures for management scale
โ€ข Provide remote support to customers for firewall, VPN (Client and P2P), and other related issues
โ€ข Participate in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and on-call availability as needed
Other Duties:
o Remain engaged with technical forums and user groups
o Other relevant tasks as directed by department leadership
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
โ€ข 7+ years of working knowledge of firewall, networking, and security-related information technologies
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
โ€ข Knowledge of various firewalls types with required experience with Fortinet or Cisco
โ€ข Experience with administering common network services, such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, etc.
โ€ข Demonstrated ability to analyze, triage, and remediate firewall and network related issues
โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills
โ€ข Experience in troubleshooting in a technical environment
โ€ข Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
โ€ข Superior customer service skills
Have or acquire one or more certifications in the cybersecurity domain including, but not limited to:
โ€ข CCENT, CCNA, NSE4 and above, PCNSE, etc.
โ€ข CISCO, Fortinet, Microsoft, Network +, Security+
WORK ENVIRONMENT
โ€ข Currently Clearwater is "virtual" company and all colleagues work remotely.
โ€ข Work remotely and provide own computer, printer/scanner, computer audio capability, cell phone, Internet service, and Microsoft Office software.
