What you’ll do

Meaningful Work: Design and deliver scalable software solutions that drive innovation and improve healthcare outcomes as part of The Cigna Group’s Software Engineering track.

Learn by Collaborating: Learn by doing alongside peers, mentors, and cross‑functional partners through hands‑on projects, recruiting support, innovation efforts, community initiatives, and onboarding experiences.

Structured Learning: Grow through a blend of core and track‑specific curriculum, including technical training, leadership development, and business exposure to support your development as a well‑rounded technologist.

Qualifications

Candidates must have participated in and completed a Cigna Group internship prior to applying for this position.

Education

Full time candidates must have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical program at the time of hire. Preferred degrees include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Software Engineering. Additional degrees such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Math, Bioinformatics, or Healthcare Analytics will be considered if paired with strong coding experience and exposure to software development principles.

Technical Skills

Familiarity with programming languages and tools such as Python or other coding languages, prompt engineering, JavaScript, SQL.

Courses & Experiences

Academic coursework, research, or internships focused on machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, or generative AI. Exposure to real-world applications of AI in healthcare or other industries is a plus.

AI Forward Mindset

Demonstrated curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their potential to reshape industries. Interest in ethical AI, responsible innovation, and the intersection of AI and human-centered design.

Additional Information

Location: This position is based in one of the following office locations: Bloomfield, CT |Morris Plains, NJ | St.Louis, MO | Austin, TX | Bloomington, MN. The role requires a hybrid work schedule, with a minimum of three days per week working onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday, and one additional day of the employee’s choice), and the option to work the remaining days remotely. Relocation assistance is not offered, and employees must be able to meet the onsite schedule for their assigned office location.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday starting February15,2027, or July12,2027.

Work Authorization

One goal of this leadership development program is to prepare and identify qualified candidates for leadership roles with The Cigna Group upon program completion. Therefore, this position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who do not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship including, but not limited to, H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM.

Timeline

Compensation

Expected base salary is $88,000 for bachelor’s graduates and $100,000 for master’s graduates, plus competitive benefits. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 72,400 - 120,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.

Pre‑Employment Requirements

Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory pre‑employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe. If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
