LENGTH OF WORK YEAR:  187 DAYS                PAY GRADE:   PI2     

   

WAGE/HOUR STATUS:  Non-Exempt                SALARY RANGE:     $15.00  Min    $22.44  Max

     

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The role of the instructional aide is to assist the teacher in providing appropriate distance, virtual or face to face instruction. A cooperative working relationship must be maintained enabling the achievement of the assigned duties and afford a smooth, effective classroom operation.

 


QUALIFICATIONS:TEA certification requirements
Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015
Requirements for Paraprofessionals that include one of the following:
  completed at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education; or
  obtained an associate's degree; or
  met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic 
assessment - knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading, writing, and mathematics; or
knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing, reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate
High School Graduate or GED
Ability to understand and willingness to follow oral and written instructions Ability to communicate and work effectively with students
Ability to work cooperatively with other supportive personnel, teachers, school administration and the public










   


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
 Perform tasks under the direct supervision of a certified teacher or teaching team.
Release the teacher from routine tasks:
Distributes and collects instructional materials.
Performs such clerical tasks as: Typing and duplicating materials such as records, requisitions, reports, forms, tests and instructional materials.
Catalogues, files and maintains necessary inventories.
Reads to students, listens to students and participates in other forms of oral communication with students or groups of students.
Will assist the early childhood student(s) to whom assigned in such physical tasks such as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory, changing diapers, etc. as needed.
Helps students master instructional materials assigned by the teacher through distance, virtual or face to face environments.
Maintains bulletin board and other displays as directed.
Operates instructional equipment.
Assists students in library as needed.
Assists in preparation of materials in media center.
Assists in supervision of students during lunch period(s), programs, on the playground and busing activity including field trips.
Participates in in-services.
  Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or to others.
  Performs other related duties as assigned.
