AMS Technologies is a leading provider of advanced technology solutions, dedicated to delivering excellence and innovation to our clients. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Antonio, TX.
Position Overview:
As a Senior Network Engineer at AMS Technologies, you will be instrumental in delivering network architecture support and developing both conceptual and detailed system designs. You will drive network technology enhancements and capability enablement initiatives, ensuring the robustness and security of our network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Palo Alto Firewall Management:
  • Design, configure, deploy, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PA-Series, Panorama, etc.).
  • Administer Palo Alto firewalls to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
  • Implement, manage, and audit firewall policies, security rules, and network segmentation.
Network Design & Integration:
  • Develop conceptual and detailed network system designs for technology enhancements.
  • Conduct requirements analysis and develop solutions, including preliminary and detailed designs.
  • Perform system integration, testing, and deployment engineering for high-priority initiatives.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
  • Troubleshoot firewall and network issues, perform root cause analysis, and resolve performance/configuration problems.
  • Monitor network security, identify vulnerabilities, and apply appropriate mitigation measures.
Collaboration & Documentation:
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure network security and provide technical support for infrastructure projects.
  • Document firewall configurations, security changes, and network diagrams.
  • Assist in disaster recovery, business continuity, and network optimization efforts.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated with Palo Alto Networks and Cisco software updates, patches, DISA STIGs, and best practices.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, or Splunk for both Palo Alto and Cisco environments.
Additional Duties:
  • Integrate hardware for testing, develop and test proposed solutions, and validate designs through site surveys.
  • Support deployments as needed and develop documentation to meet standard engineering lifecycle management requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Equivalent work experience considered (10-12 years preferred).
Certifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Required (Routing & Switching or Security focus).
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing & Switching - Required.
  • CompTIA Security+ CE - Required.
  • DoD 8570 certifications such as CompTIA CASP+ are required.
Experience:
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls (PA-Series, Panorama, and related technologies).
  • 3-5 years of experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting with Cisco devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with network security and firewall management.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and managing VLANs, VPNs, NAT, routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and QoS.
  • Experience with high availability (HA) configurations for both Palo Alto and Cisco devices.
  • Familiarity with network segmentation, firewall rule configuration, and VPN solutions (site-to-site, client VPN, SSL VPN).
  • Proficiency in both Palo Alto and Cisco CLI for configuration and troubleshooting tasks.
Technical Skills:
  • Skilled in Palo Alto Networks firewall policies, threat prevention, application control, URL filtering, NAT, and SSL decryption.
  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco routing, switching, network security protocols, and firewall management (including ASA or Firepower).
  • Proficiency in IPSec, SSL VPNs, and GRE tunneling.
  • Ability to configure, deploy, and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and other advanced routing protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with Panorama for centralized Palo Alto management and reporting.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow, or Splunk for both Palo Alto and Cisco environments.
