This position is responsible for installation, management, maintenance, capacity planning design and engineering for the LAN/WAN data network infrastructure. Responsibilities include disaster recovery planning and advanced technical problem analysis and resolution for the organization's facilities and locations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL:
Network Engineering
  • Develops short and long range network design and architecture plans for the organization's
  • facilities and data centers.
  • Develops configuration standards across network equipment in order to ensure integrity of the
  • systems and services.
  • Manages network related projects, tasks and upgrades and coordinates networking resources as
  • needed.
  • Reviews new technologies, methodologies and processes to ensure the network infrastructure meets current and future needs.
  • Maintains information technology inventory records of wide-area and local-area network hardware and software as well as coordination of repairs and quality control tests.
  • Provides Advanced Network Support, including all means of data communications transport and security measures for those transports.
  • Stays current with new complex networking technologies, architectures and best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, or Electrical Engineering required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in advanced network engineering.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in advanced packet/protocol analysis throughout the seven layer OSI model
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in design and operations with enterprise firewalls, IPS and other security technologies, complex routing protocols, physical and logical LAN and WAN technologies, WiFi, and security and encryption standards.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in client server networking in a Windows, Linux, and Macintosh computing environment.
  • Experience supporting Palo Alto Firewall.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) certification or equivalent experience.

An equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Proficiency in advanced analysis, installation, administration and troubleshooting of a data
  • network.
  • Proficiency in network design and planning.
  • Proficiency in auditing and documentation methods and practices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to use sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.
  • The ability to support critical systems after hours, nights and weekends as needed.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand and sit for an extended length of time. Ability to occasionally walk on uneven terrain to include railroad ballast and icy ground. Ability to climb ladders and enter/exit vehicles and equipment. Ability to work in various environments, which can include, but is not limited to, working with dust, dirt, gravel, fumes, exhaust, various noise levels, various temperatures, for an extended length of time as well as in various outdoor, sometimes extreme, weather conditions as required.
  • Ability to stay alert and aware of surrounding operating environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., and work with arms held in an overhead position
