Job Responsibilities:
Network Infrastructure
• Responsible for high-level network planning, design, and optimization. Approves and modifies network design and architecture to ensure compliance.
• Develops strategies for network systems solutions using current and emerging technologies. Translates business requirements into network or process designs.
• Plans and recommends network hardware, system management software and architecture.
• Monitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.
• Thoroughly defines and documents network standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts.
• Provides senior-level expertise on decisions and priorities regarding the enterprise's overall systems architecture.
• Facilitates the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions across enterprise-wide hardware and software applications.
• Provides technical guidance to project teams as appropriate.
• Configures and maintains routers, switches, firewalls and remote access for the network systems.
• Recommends network security procedures and policies.
• Provides cross-training and mentoring to other staff members.
• Provides appropriate levels of support for all aligned functions, per the IT Accountability matrix
Datacenter Infrastructure
• Provides assistance with the implementation and support of all datacenter functions including servers (physical and virtual), storage and archiving, Exchange, mobility, and system backups and replication.
• Promotes the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines that guide the design of technology solutions across enterprise-wide hardware and software applications.
• Provides technical guidance to project teams as appropriate.
• Helps to evaluate new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise. Provides technical consulting to management that may result in the selection, installation and support of enterprise-wide systems.
• Evaluates technology options to ensure selected solutions are cost effective and produce a recognizable return on investment
• Participates in enterprise-wide disaster recovery planning and implementation. Ensures the plan is communicated to appropriate personnel.
• Assists with preparation of annual estimate for AFE of datacenter equipment and strategic planning.
• Provides appropriate levels of support for all aligned functions, per the IT Accountability matrix. Assists plant IT with data center and networking needs as required.
• Performs complex deployment or maintenance procedures as well as repair work on Local Area Networks (LANs), communications, and related hardware and software (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers)
Internal Controls:
Understands and complies with established departmental processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identifies and brings to the attention of department management internal controls deficiencies.
Successful incumbents will have:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Math or Computer Science or technical training equivalent and graduate-level coursework
2. Minimum of eight plus years of network support and systems-level programming
3. Cisco Certified Engineer strongly preferred
4. Experience with EMC storage arrays, Symantec eVault, XenMobile, Active Directory preferred
5. Capable of troubleshooting all aspects of Local Area Network and Data Communications problems
6. Customer service oriented
7. Excellent communication and analytical skills

Position Scope/Contribution:

Acts independently or with very general direction. Errors may cause significant disruption to significant business operations or major equipment costs. Regularly provides technical leadership and assists in the training of less experienced analysts/users.
