Job description

Our Ontario team is looking for a skilled CAD drafter to join the team. This person will play a crucial role in the design and development process, collaborating with the manufacturing team and sales department. The right candidate will have a keen eye for detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, high proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD & SolidWorks), and a desire to jump in and support our rapidly expanding Pipe Supports division.

Job Purpose:

Prepare technical CAD drawings for assigned projects.

Job Responsibilities

  • Creating Technical Drawings: Drafting precise technical drawings, plans, and diagrams using CAD software based on specifications provided by engineers, architects, or designers.
  • Detailing and Annotations: Ensuring that drawings are accurately detailed, annotated, and dimensioned to convey necessary information for construction or production
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with sales and manufacturing teams to understand project requirements and incorporate design changes as necessary.
  • Quality Assurance: Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to industry standards and project requirements.
  • Project Analysis: Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes.
  • Material Takeoffs: Assisting in material takeoffs and quantity surveys to support project estimation and procurement processes.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD Software: Expertise in using CAD software (AutoCAD and SolidWorks) with a strong understanding of drafting principles and techniques.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of engineering or architectural principles, construction methods, and materials to accurately translate design concepts into technical drawings.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy and precision in drafting tasks, including proper dimensioning, scaling, and annotation.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, convey technical information clearly, and address design issues.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve design conflicts or technical challenges during the drafting process. Anticipate and troubleshoot areas of concern and resolve issues.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques, including machining, welding, and fabrication, for drafting mechanical or industrial designs.

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma
    3+ years related work experience
    Ability to analyze and interpret designs/drawings
    Expertise in using CAD software (AutoCAD & SolidWorks)
    Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
    Excellent communications skills both verbal and written


DESIRABLE:

  • Bilingual - Spanish (plus)
    Experience of using Epicor P21 ERP system
    Experience in the fastener industry
