LaPrairie Group of Companies is a family-owned, diverse group of construction companies that have been in business for over 40 years in Western Canada.We are one of Canada's largest independently owned mobile-crane companies, experts in oilfield trucking, heavy-hauling and picker truck services, specialists in proppant mining and production, and a major road construction and maintenance contractor.


LaPrairie Group of Companies is seeking a energetic System Administrator, Fixed Term to join their IT team in Downtown Calgary. This is a 6-month fixed term role. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex incidents and service requests beyond Tier 1 capability.
  • Own end-to-end resolution of escalated tickets, including root cause analysis and preventative measures.
  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting across hardware, software, networking, and cloud services.
  • Support and maintain end-user environments including laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Participate in ticket triage, backlog management, and continuous improvement of support workflows.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including user provisioning, access control, and device setup.
  • Support multi-site operations, including remote environments, and resolve connectivity issues across VPN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Provide clear, professional communication to end users with timely updates and expectation setting.
  • Document troubleshooting, resolutions, and maintain the internal knowledge base and system documentation.
  • Manage Active Directory, group policy, and access controls.
  • Support patching, vulnerability remediation, and routine maintenance.
  • Assist with infrastructure projects and deliver against defined milestones.
  • Support endpoint, server, and cloud security controls, including MDM platforms such as Microsoft Intune.
  • Work with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in computer science or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT Support or System Administration roles.
  • Experienced with multi-location networking and supporting remote sites without having local technical experts.
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
  • Experience administrating Microsoft Servers, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and other technologies to support the business.
  • Maintaining and supporting MDM solutions like Intune.
  • Experience with Network, Server, Endpoint and Cloud security administration.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
  • Committed to updating documentation, providing training documents, and clearly communicate with non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and to travel to remote sites when required.
