Job Title: Lab Technician (Glassware – Inventory Specialist) 
Location: Tarrytown, NY 10591
Duration: 12 Months + Extensions
Pay Rate: $25/Hr on W2 without benefits
 
Job Description Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Glassware Specialist to provide essential laboratory support as part of our dynamic lab services team. The Glass Wash team delivers a centralized service responsible for the collection of used laboratory glassware, processing through validated cleaning and sanitization procedures, and the return of clean, inspected glassware to customer locations. All glassware must be visually inspected to ensure cleanliness and structural integrity prior to release.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to work independently while supporting a team-based laboratory environment.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Collect, transport, and deliver laboratory glassware and plasticware in accordance with established handling and contamination control procedures.
  • Follow approved procedures for the safe handling, transport, and processing of contaminated and non-contaminated laboratory items.
  • Operate glassware washers, dry heat sterilizers, and ultrasonic baths.
  • Prepare glassware, caps, and related items for sanitization using defined procedural steps.
  • Inspect all processed glassware for cleanliness, residue, and structural defects prior to release.
  • Maintain temperature chart recorders, equipment logs, and required documentation in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Perform routine inspections and operational checks on glass wash equipment.
  • Conduct routine maintenance activities, including monthly de-scaling and basic preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor glassware inventory levels and notify the Glassware Lead of shortages or deficiencies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of glassware processing and storage areas.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and proactively identify and report safety or operational concerns.
  • Complete all required training in a timely manner and maintain compliance with health, safety, environmental, security, and operational requirements.
  • Mentor and train new team members as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the team lead to identify and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with other laboratory support teams to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Cross-train and provide backup support to other laboratory support functions as needed.

  • Prior experience in glass wash or laboratory support services
  • Familiarity with autoclaves, glassware washers, or similar laboratory equipment

Working Environment:
  • Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
  • Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
  • Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.
